In addressing the Grand Jury, the Judge said there were frequent cases af embezzlement of public funds ; but, considering tho large number of officers entrusted with money, the statistics would show that the proportion of officers was not abnormal. Most of the cases are trivial, except Harris's— embezzlement of Provincial funds and numerous cases of forgery. They come on to-morrow. He is expected to plead guilty. The country is suffering severely from the long drought, and the crops of all kinds are in great danger.
