Friday, November 4. (Before Caleb Whitefoord, Esq., R.M.) Sarah Featherson was fined L 5 for using abusive and offensive-language. William Havey was ftws I<3, with 22s

costs and expenses, for disorderly conduct and behavior, calculated to provoke a breach of the peace. Ellen Swords or Cameron was informed against, under the provisions of the Vagrant Act, that she was an idle and disorderly person, and she was further charged with the habitual iise of obscene and offensive language within the hearing of the public. The defendant had been several times previously before the Court, charged with similar offence. Sentenced to three months' imprisonment, with hard labor. Charles Evans was charged with using abusive and threatening language to Elizabeth Burke. Defendant did not appear. Fined L 3, with costs and expenses. A warrant was directed to issue. CIVIL CASES. Cavichiavich v Blanchet.— A dispute about an American axe. The instrument was ordered to be returned to plaintiff, or, in default, the value of it (12s 6d), with costs. Beaver v. Brown and others. — A claim of L 62 2s 4d for goods supplied at HalfOunce. An arrangement was come to between the parties, and the case was eventually withdrawn. Featherstone v. Tracey. — A claim of L 3 as follows :— LI 10s cash lent to defendant's wife, and 30s for damage done to a riding skirt. Judgment was given for 30s, with 9s costs. ■ , Ryan v. Horn.— A claim for L 5, balance of account for work done as a carpenter at defendant' 3 hotel. Defendant had paid plaintiff L 5 as a settlement in full, An expert was sent by the Court to estimate the value of the work, and he made it more than plaintiff claimed. Verdict for the full amount, with, costs of Court, and 20s for the valuator. The Court adjourned for one month.
