Bombay, Aug. 30. Six thousand people perished in an earthquake in Thibet in April last. Volunteer corps are forming at Calcutta and Bombay. The European complications are exciting the deepest interest. Should Russia advance on Turkey, it is proposed that England should throw an enormous force of Indian troops into Egypt. The removal of the British troops from India is protested against. Madras, Sept. 2. A petition has been framed by the native population, praying for Lord Napier to be allowed two years' more rule. Calcutta, Aug. 27. Fifteen convicts escaped in an open boat from the Andamans Islands. The European employes on the railways are formed into volunteer companies.
