A GOLD FIELD ON THE MURRAY.

[border tost.] For some time past it has been known that gold was found on the Upper Murray, and on both sides of the river. To parties well acquainted with the outward mdi■- ■ cation of a gold field the flats along the I banks of \ the Murray have always suggested the probability of there being a rich gold deposit beneath. tang: i, from the *aou that parties luve found gold at Talgarno, and have made application to Mr Horkins, acting C.P.S. at Wodonga, for miners' rights. Should this ground turn out good it will do much for the Albury and Wodonga districts, for there ia no doubt the land is more or less aurifevous, the only question being as to its paying Qualities, and this fact would almost appear to be set at rest by those prospecting parties coming into Wodonga for their rights. We only hope it may prove so. The Ten-mile Creek correspondent Of the Post writes :— " The floods which havto taken place recently have operated againai getting any authentic information with respect to the rush upon the Mittagong run. All endeavors to ascertain the number of men upon it, particulars as to prospecting, depth of sinking, &c, have proved futile, but in all probability reliable accounts will be forthcoming in a short time. I am, however, justified, 1 think, in stating that no fortunes have been made upon it. People will take an immense amount of Baiting before they are cured of a gold fever.
