» (prom our own correspondent.) Wellington, May 13. Tricker was released to-day. He has not received a free pardon. His sentence has been only commuted to imprisonment to date. Mr Collie, agent of the proposed new line of steamers to San Francisco, sailed for Melbourne yesterday, with the Wellington delegates, Messrs Rhodes and Pharazyn. The steamer Beautiful Star struck on a snag going out of Wanganui River, and was seriously damaged. Her cargo was landed by the John Perm. ' Christchurch, May 13. Mr Fox addressed the citizens in the Town Hall last night. 700 people were present. The speech consisted chiefly of a history of the war during the, last two years. He reiterated his statements as to the war expenditure given at the Otago meeting, and charged the Wellington correspondent of the Daily Times as a doubledyed scoundrel, for obtaining Government secret information and making use of it. | He stated that it was the intention of the Ministry to ask for a loan for road making in the North Island, as a means of civilizing the natives. Nothing was stated beyond what was given to the Otago meeting as to the policy of the Government. _______^_
