(from our own correspondent.) Nelson, May 13 . In the Provincial Council, last night, Mr Luckie'a motion of no confidence was warmly debated. Mr Baigent seconded the motion. Mr Greenfield replied. Messrs Gibbs, O'Connor, Kelling, and Donne supported the motion. Mr O'Connor spoke remarkably well. Mr Franklyn defended the Government and attacked the West Coast members in a most violent speech. He was three times called to order by the Speaker, and told that his language was disgraceful and discreditable to himself and the Council. He accused Mr Luckie of audacious mendacity, and he said that the other Wesc Coast members were animated only by a desire to secure the loaves and fishes. An influential commit ice was appointed to use all its efforts to obtain the establishment of such a service. Messrs Rhodes, Fitzherbert, and Pharazyn were appointed a deputation to urge the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce to use its influence with the Victorian Government to induce it to join New Zealand in establishing the line. Mr Travers opposed granting any subsidy while roads and bridges wanted making in the colony. May 10. A free pardon will be granted from the 11th inst., to Tricker, who has been several years in prison on a charge of murder. Christchuech, May 10. The declaration of the Superintendency took place to»day as follows : — Mr Rolles ton, 1800 ; Mr Moorhouse, 897. Mr Fox will address the citizens on Thursday night.
