SHOOTING MATCH.
The meeting of the Greymouth Rifle Volunteers took place on Saturday at the company's range. Captain Hamilton kept the score, and by his kindness and attention to tlie competitors made a long day pass very pleasantly. Some crack shots were present from Dunedin ami Hokitika, but owing to the bright sun, heat of the day, and a great mirage on the range, the shooting was below the average. The first match was for members of the G.R. V. Company. First prize, L 5 ; second do,L3 ; third do, L 2 ; fourth do, LI. Volunteer G. Taylor ... ... . 1 W. S. Smith .. 2 — Hardy 3 G. W. Moss... ... 4 The second match, for all comers. First prize, L 5 ; second ao, L 3 : third do, L 2 ; fourth do, LI. Volunteer W. S. Smith 1 „ G. Taylor ... ... 2 „ - Hardy 3 Gunner Pell 4 The third, handicap match. First prize, L 4; second do, L 3 ; third do, L 2 ; fourth do, LI. Volunteer Simmons 1 „ W. S. Smith 2 Sergeant Paul 3 Volunteer G. Taylor 4 The consolation match did not come off, and will be fired on Wednesday afternoon.
