Flour moved off in small lots at Lll 10s to Ll2. Wheat, best, 5s 3d. Maize heavy. Oats in good trade demands at f. Sugars inactive. Teas steady ; fair demand. Hops wanted, stocks low. New York advices report kerosene at Id to l^d. Mail advices show an increased import trade, consisting of season's soft goods. Comsacks reached 12d. Holmes' sardines, scarce sales, at lOd. Blood's stout, 9s 6d. New Zealand flax, best samples, L 33. Davies, mining manager at Ballarat, has had his sentence reduced to one month. Arrived : Io and Black Hawk, from Greymonth. The Council and Assembly are; at variance respecting the Land BilL ' ' Higginbotham's Colonial independence resolutions have been carried. A nugget worth L3OOO sterling" has jbeen found at Berlin. The officers were greatly feted; 'and attended apic-nic at Qlontarf on the 22nd. Thunderbolt has resumed sticking up at Aimidale. ■ Mr Tegg has been committed for trial for murdering two Chinamen.
