(FROM OlTt OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Christchurch, Tuesday. Colonel Whitmore lias arrived at Napier in the Sturt. It is reported that he intends to resign lria command. He landed eighty-six men at Wangwai. The enemy are fortifying themselves at Tiki-Tiki Lake, Waikare-Mona. Major Herrick is within two miles of them engaged in building punts to cross the lake, and intends to commence action in eight days. The Provincial Council was prorogued on Saturday. Felton (Judge Native Lands Court), has been called to the Upper House. The barque Chance, from Newcastle, went aground on Saturday on an unknown reck off Deep Water Point.
