PAROA ROAD BOARD.
(To the Editor of the Grey River Argus.) Sir — I wish to draw the attention of the inhabitants of this district to a resolution, passed at a special meeting called for the purpose on the 25th inst., by the Paroa Road Board. It was moved by Mr Hamilton, and seconded by Mr Howieson— " That a pack-track four feet wide be made from Cock-a-Bulla'Creek to the Eight-mile township, and that a special rate be levied at once to carry on the work." The fact is, Mr Hamilton intends to extend his private tramway as far as Cock-a-Bulla, and the residents of the district will have to make a pack-road from that to the Eight-mile. None can pack or use that piece of road. I might say it will be a portion of Mr Hamilton's line from the Saltwater. It will be no benefit to the public, it will only benefit the gentleman who proposed the motior. He can send his goods to the Eight-mUe without any trouble, and the othfi? business people will have to find sorre other way or pay Mr Hamilton an exorbitant price for taking their goods, up. It will not reduce the price of provisions, for none can compete with Mr H. So a member of the Road Board will have a portion of his road made at the expense of the inhabitants. I want to know why the Road Board don't publish in the Argus the amount of money they received and paid away since their collection, and what it was paid for, I understand the old Board did so. The public would then see how they disposed of the L7OO or LBOO they received from the County Council. At the present time there is nothing to be seen but the Boatman's Arms and the piece of road lately made to White's store. There are many other matters connected with the Road Board that should get publicity. Hoping you will insert this, I am, &c., One Interested. Paroa, May 28, 1869.
