ROWDYISM IN NELSON CREEK.

SrR — I forward these few lines to your journal to see if you can devise any, means jby which the miners and residents of "Nelson Creek can get protection from a band of ratlins' who carry on the most [brutal conduct imaginable in this district, their country, and breeding animosity amongst a community whose aim ought to be uriityl Sunday up here is a, day never heard of but in the almanac. True, we have a sergeant of police, but of what use is" he to the" population* It is a living den of riot. You cannot for a night go ou{; expecting to come home again sound in 'limb. ' Stones are flying in all 'directions ; places of business are stoned ; nightly, more like a civil war being carried : on than anything else I could compare it to. I have no more to say on the subject, '■ trust you will insert these lines to ; .give the Government a chance of re- ■ r uiedying an evil which ought to have been looked into months ago.
