THE EXTENSION OF THE COUNTY.
(To the Editor of the Grey River Argus.) Sir — Some time ago, Mr Harrison visited Cobden for the purpose of inducing the inhabitants of that village and district to petition for separation from Nelson, and could hardly obtain a hearing. If that gentleman could be induced to give us another call he would meet with a very, .different reception, as many of those who so far forgot themselves on tho last occasion have since expressed sorrow for their conduct, and deeply regret that they did not give the subject their serious attention, and afterwards put their shoulders' jto the wheel to help forward an object so to the well-being of the district. The conviction has been forced upon us, that it is better to act for ourselves than to starve under the chilling patronage, and the incessant and exhaustive bleeding , jmanipulatism of the Nehon Provincial 'Government. I am, <fee, . - A Cobdenite. Cobden, Dec. 1, 1868.
