The Board of Trade returns for May phew a falling off of one million and a quarter in the exports as compared with the corresponding months for the last two years. At the annual meeting of the share holders of the Union Bank of Australia, held on July 13, a dividend was declared of 15 per cent per annum. A concession for the establishment of *n electric telegraph line between France
and the United States was granted by the French Government to Reuter and Baron Emile Dechanger. The line is to run from Brest to near Boston, and is ex. pected to be laid next year. The concession is for twenty years. Maximum tariff to be £o for twenty words. Wool Report. — After the absorption of so large a quantity a3 recently passed the hammer, no enquiry is made for colonial woql in the London market. ! Since the close of the May and June series of sales, prices have been well maintained. It is not expected that a demand will spring up before the August sales. Importations already amount to 158, G46 bales. The estimated quantity will increase sonio 50,000 or 60,000 bales,
