THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION.
THE NOMINATION, j The official nomination of candidates for the office of Councillors in the Municipal Council of Grej'mouth took place at the Court-house on Tuesday, at noon. The Returning Officer, W. H. Revell, Esq., read the writ appointing him to sit in his capacity at this election, also the usual gazette notices, and those, published in this journal. He then read the list of nominations, which fee ha,d received in the form prescribed by the Act. They were as follows : — Edwin Ashtq.it, nominated by Messrs A. Hosie, E. Wickes, and Charles Barling. War. James Coates, by Messrs J. Heron, Win. F. Strike, and T. Joyce. David Gird wood, by Messrs T. Joyce, W. Kilgour, and W. J..Coat§s. Patricis M. Gkiffen, by Messrs J. T. Fitzgerald, J). Sheedy, and P. FJanary. John Harp.is, by Messrs T. Trist, R. Shannon, and W. Wright, John Heron, by Messrs G. Simmons, W. J. Coates, and J. W. Parkinson. Thomas Joyce, by Messrs D. Sheedy, J. T. The Returning Officer then declared that the poll would take place at the Resident Magistrate's Court, on Wednesday, the 26th instant, and that voting papers could be had at his office, and also at the office of the Grey River Argus. It was necessary for these papers to be filled up as prescribed by the Act. The proceedings then terminated.
