Sydney, July 25. Another action against the Commissioner for Railways, for injuries sustained on the occasion of tlie collision at Newtown, is to be tried shortly in the Metropolitan District Court. A verdict with £\ 00 damages was given in favour of a claimaut at the last sittings of the Supreme Court. Mr Crack nell, the Superintendent of Telegrams, has left Sydney for Inverell, New England, where a new office is about to be opened. An action for slander on the part of a well-known member of the musical profession against a dignitary of the Church of England is about to be tried in Sydney. It is reported in political circles that the Government intend to introduce early next session a laud bill of a very liberal character, in which the principle of free selection shall bo extended, the grazing rights of the selectors be rendered more secure, and a larger revenue than at present realised lx-ic ed for kasel.old occupation. It is not probable that the pension granted by the Legislature to the late Dr Bland, for his eminent services, -will be continued to his widow, although some hon. members of Parliament are understood to be in favor of some provision being made by the Government for Mrs Bland. The Victory, from Launceston, bound to Newcastle, met with some very severe weather on the passage, and has been obliged to put in here, having lost her mainmast. TheJßengalee also met with very heavy weather, and lost some of her boats. Adelaide, July 25. Mr Dominick Gore Daly, the eldest son of the late Governor, Sir Dominick Daly, and who wsis the private secretary to his late father, has assigned his estate for the benefit of his creditors. The corn market looked somewhat better this morning. A sale to a considerable extent was reported as having occurred yesterday afternoon of wheai at 7s. per bushel. The Government has made satisfactory arrangements with the banks here for the purchase of drafts upon England for tho next three months. Prime bullocks are quoted to-day at from £9 to £16 per head, and at these prices they are in good demand. Prime wethers fetch from 10s. to 11s. each, good wethers from Bs. to 9s. each.
