THE NEW RUSHES AT THE AHAURA.

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT,) August 3. 1 have to-day visited the new rush up the Aiuuri track, better known as Orwell Town. I found a much larger number of diggers than I expected, as about 400 men Avere upon the ground. A great number qf them were upon the point of leaving, as not more than 50 or 60 men were upon gold, and the gullies were so narrow that few more could expect to set in with any reasonable prospect. A township has. been formed about eight miles from the Ahaura, containing six stores, the greater part of whom intended to remove to the new diggings to-day ; but news having come to the township of a new rush, originated by Pat Barry and Peter Byrne, better known as "Champagne Peter," who have to-day gone down for a prospecting claim, has. induced the present storekeepers to remain where they are until they ascertain the result of the new rush. About 100 men are shepherding the prospectors of the new gully ; and so far as I can place reliance in private and confidential information, J believe the rush will be a good one for a large number of men. I hear that eight grains to the dish is the prospect: If I hear more I will lose no time in acquainting you with the news.

(prom a correspondent.) Ahaura, August 5. As you may be anxious to hear some genuine information concerning the new rush up here, I hasten to inform you that I was up there yesterday, and was on the ground when about 60 or 70 men returned after a successful trip in quest of another large gully, the prospectors of which had come down here for the purpose of applying for a prospecting claim. As they would not give the precise locality (which is about five miles from the, hrst discovery) the crowd went in search in the meantime, and, as I have said before, found the exact gully. When the ground was prospected it gave immense satisfaction to all' hands, the prospects averaging from two to six and eight grains to the dish. The gully is large enough to hold 2000 men, and is in an entirely new country. As the whole crowd of the miners are the informants, you can rely on my information, and you are at perfect liberty to publish it. As I have previously stated, it. is an entirely new mining country, but in the lay of the gold-bearing country of Duffer's, Noble's, and other gullies.
