. Serious and fatal bread riots are reported A3 having occurred in Grenada- A crowd of about 2000 proceeded to the house of the Civil Governor, demanding that the price of bread should be reduced. He promised to comply as far as was in his p«wer. They then marched to the Town Hall, and not obtaining a satisfactory answer, smashed the windows, and spread themselves through the town, committing acts of plunder. A proposition being made to seize the corn stores, they set themselves to work, filled several carts with corn, and paraded them in triumph. An officer who endeavored to resist them was ill-treated and wounded. At last the soldiers were called out, martial law proclaimed, and orders given to arrest the rioters. The solders being pelted with Btones received orders to fire. They fired high, but a man was hit by a ball. A municipal policeman was killed, and a lieutenant and civil guardsman were wounded. Several additional casualties ensued.
