Tuesday, March 10. (Before His Honor Judge Clark.e.J^ BANKRUPTCY BUSINESS. His Honor announced that for the. future he would sit in Chambers in Insolvency cases at Greymouth ; and that; the Clerk of the Court would, during his. absence, be empowered by the 14th. clause, part 2, of tbe Bankruptcy Act, to receive declarations and issue orders, &c v The following cases were dealt with, at this sitting: — Re Jas. Counsel. — In. this case the. declaration of insolvency had been filed on* the 6th December, and the schedule of assets and liabilities on the 13th. The, notice of bankruptcy had been published in the Grey River Argus, but as it was. afterwards discovered that it should have been gazetted in the West Coast Times, a. fresh declaration had to be filed on ik&_ 6th January, and the petition and sche-. dule immediately afterwards. There was no appearance of either, the bankrupt orhis solicitor, Mr O'Lougblin* this case, therefore lapsed, ReTimonand M'Gill, Sunday Creek,. — In this case the insolvents had executed* a deed of arrangement vesting their property in the haudsof Mr Martin Kennedy for the- benefit of creditors. His Honorsanctioned the deed. - Re. Alex Montgomery. — The insolvent, had assigned his property to Messrs Levy and Masters, and a. list of his assets and. liabilities was filed on the sth inst. Mr Guinness, who appeared for some opposing creditors, endeavored to upset the deed upon the ground that it was not for the benefit of all the creditors. MrPerkins contended that the deed was a valid'one, and his Honor concurred. Protection was granted, and the first meeting for the examination of the insolvent was fixed to- take place at the next sitting of the District Court on the second Tuesday in May.
