Monday, March 9. (Before W. H. Revell, Esq., RM.) Assault. — A charge of assault, preferred by W. Coburn against William Mitchell and John Read, was dismissed, there being no appearance of either prosecutor or accused. * Drunkenness and Violence. — Alexander ■ Williams and Andrew Spence were brought up charged with having been drunk and disorderly, and assaulted a constable in the execution of his duty. Both prisoners were remanded for a week, bail being taken for their appearance. Stealing Ducks. — Wni. Robb and James Elly were charged with, stealing a number of ducks of the value of L 3, the property of It. Keon. The charge against Robb. was proved, and lie was sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard . labor in Hokitika gaol. The other prisoner was. acquitted.
