The New Zealand Gazette of March 25th publishes the following regulations for the banks as 'above -newly established at Christchnrch, Lyttelton, Kaiapoi, Timaru, Akaroa, Hokitika, Greymouth, aud Waimate :• 1. Interest at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum is given on sums less than L2OO ; at the rate of 4 per cent, per annum on sums over L.') 0 0; and in tht same proportion for auy shorter time on every complete LI deposited, provided that no interest be allowed on more than LSCO. "2. Depositors in the Post Office Savings' Banks have direct Government security for the prompt repayment of their money. 3. A depositor in auy one of the Post Office Banks can continue his deposits at any other of such Banks, and can withdraw his money at that PostOfiice Bank which is most convenient to him. 4. The strictest secrecj r is observed with : respect to the names of depositors in Post Office Banks, and the amounts of their deposits. ' _ t 5. Married women may deposit money in the Post Office Savings' Bank, and money so deposited will be repaid to the depositor unless her husband gives notice, in writing, of marriage, arid claims payment of the deposits. 6. Money may be deposited by. or on be- . half of minors. Depositors over seven years of age are treated as persons of full age, but minors under seven years of age cannot withdraw their deposits until they have reacheel the age of seven. . 7.
