The late Hon. John Lowe, M.L.C. was buried at the Geelong Cemetery on the. 12^1. Both branches of the Legislature and most of the public bodies wore represented amongst the mourners, and business was suspended in the town. A slubber named George Eanishaw, residing ttt Loekwoocl. near HuddersHeld, has attempted the crimes "of murder and suicide, by singular but terrible means. Being alone in his house with his two young children, he endeavored to murder them in bed by pouring boiling water into their ears. He failed in this; dreadful design, and then attempted to destroy himself, first by drinking boiling water and after by strangling himself with a rope. He is now m custody, and has been during the week under treatment at the Huddersfield Infirmary. It is said he has exhibited a singularity of manner lately.— Leecli Mercury, Nov. 3. .
