A very severe has been reported to Dr Hector, Director of the, Geological Survey of New ; Zealand, byMr Hair, R.M. It occurred on the 22nd and 23rd, at Mount Edgecombe, in the Province of Auckland. It was accompanied by terrible thunderings. Sonic, ■pumice and gravel- cliffs, 40 feet high, crumbled down, and the earth opened* leaving fissures five feet deep.
