Hunt in Southland, — It will be remembered that some time since we noticed the departure from the Bluff of fiunt's party, who had been working at the Pailii for some time. We now have to chronicle their proceedings- since the time; of their departure. It appears that on leaving the Bluff they prospected' with various; success, always getting the color, Until they arrived near . the Toi Toib, where they determined to take a " spell.'' At this spot encouraging prospects were obtained ; and our infornia,ni showed us; as the yesult of a working, about four cakes b| amalgam gold, which he bought from one of Hunt's party, who returned to the Bluff fdr a month's provisions. The gold is. of a yery pure description— in fapt, the biest sample we have seen in N.ew ' Zealand. Froiin the general tenor of the information we have, .received, further fayorable;and encouraging. news may be gb^ortly expected;— '•' Southland JS-Ows."
