Friday, 13th July. (Before W. H. Be veil, Esq.', R,M.) Larceny.— rJames Burrell was charged on the .ipfßrmjvt4pn of Detective M'lboy with stealing ft shirt from the shop door of Skpglund and Purcell, Richmond Quay. From the evidence it appeared that the detective saw the pri&oner on Thursday evening standing under tjieArerandah of Messrs Skoglund and PurceU's'shoW and as he had been previously acquainted with spuiapf the prisoner's doings elsevfhere, he. watched. In a short time the, prisoner came away from the shop door, was followed by the detective, stopped, and searched, when a.flannel shirt was found concealed under, his coat.. Detective M'llroy marched the prisoner back to theshop, where the shirt was identified as one of those which had been hanging outside for sale. "The prisoner was sentenced to two months' im-: prisonment with hard labor. :LatbHouks.— R. B. Golf, of the Victoria Hotel, was. changed by. the police with keeping hia house, open after the time permitted by his license, and was fined LI. Dischabginr Firearms in the Streets. ■— - Aman|named Kitterly was charged •with , discharging firearms in Mackay street. The Magistrate, commented upon this very dangerous practice, and stated his intention to put a stop to it.
