MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close for the following places as under (subject to the necessary alterations) : THUESDAY, DECEMBER 28. For Akaroa and Otago, per Taiaroa, at 9.40 a.m.; late fee letters, 9.50a.m.; guard's van, 10.25 a.m. train. FEIDAY, DECEMBEE 29. For West Ceast Sounds, per express (to connect with s.s. Stella at Bluff), at 7 a.m. For Northern Ports, per Wairarapa, at 1.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 2 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 30. For the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, Cape of Good Hope, Northern Ports of New Zealand, &c.,per Wanaka, as follows. —Ordinary letters at 6.30 p.m.; late fee letters, 7 \>.m.; books and newspapers, C. 30 p.m.; mon j orders, 3 p.m.; registered correspondence, 5 p.m.; guard's van, 8.15 p.m. train. This mail will be due in London on February 12th. Notice.—On Monday next (New Year's Day) all branches of this department will be closed. Mails usually despatched on Monday will be closed on Saturday, December 30th, at 8 p.m. The office will be open for the delivery of letters on Saturday evening, December 30th, from 8.30 to 9.30 p.m. Sunday hours will be observed in the private box lobby on New Year's Day.
