Received December 25th, 0.40 a.m. MELBOURNE, December 23.

The musical festival was opened this evening by his Excellency the Marquis of Normanby. A large number of persons, including members of both Houses of Parliament, were present. The Intercolonial Cricket Match, between representative teams of Victoria and New South Wales, commenced here to-day. The weather was fine, and a capital wicket was pitched, the ground being in good order. The home team went in first, and were all disposed of for 148 runs. At the close of the day’s play the New South AVales team had lost one wicket for 76

runs. Received December 24th, 11 a.m. ADELAIDE, December 23. The South Australian wool clip for the present season is valued at .£ t,030,0CX) being a decrease of .£114,069 compared with last year.
