A prosecution has been instituted against Mr Biggar, M.P., in consequence of a speech which he recently made vilifying Earl Spencer, Viceroy of Ireland.

A popular demonstration occurred today in this city arising out of the recent execution at Trieste of a man named Oberdawk, who was arrested in September last with Orsini bombs in his possession, and was found to be implicated in a plot (said to be of Italian origin) against the life of the Emperor of Austria. The demonstration was of a strong antiAustrian character, and culminated in attacks upon several Austrian residents.
