CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, November 28. (Before J. Ollivier, Esq., R.M.) Drunkenness. William Gundry was fined £2. Thomas Richards was fined 10s, in default the usual alternatives.

A "Warning. —W. H. Perrin was brought up charged with being drunk, maliciously destroying property, and with having used obscene language. Prisoner had watched a bill sticker post some notices re fire alarms on a telegraph pole, and deliberately tore them down three times. When remonstrated with he used very bad language. He was drunk. The Magistrate, pointing out the mischievous nature of his action in pulling down the notices so carefully provided by the City Council, fined the accused 5s for being drunk, .£1 for using obscene language, and £2 for destroying the posters. Civil Cases. —Judgment went by default in Hooper v Smith, .£5 11s ; Maclean v Ewing, £4 16s ; Isitt v Simpson, t'4 18s 4d; City Council v Mrs Anderson, .£163 2s 4d; v Sheriff, £6 16s 5d ; and v Crowley, £4 19s 2d; McSweney v Bray, £6 ; Mason, Struthers and Co. v Boggis, £5 ISs 6d ; and Sluis v Jupp, £lB. Delamain v Powell, Bell v Sehenkel, and Basset v Lee were adjourned till December sth; Barrett v Hobbs and Goodwin till December7th, and Doyle v Ward till December 19th.
