The sailing of the barque Conference for Sydney is deferred until Wednesday next. The s.s. Wakatipu from Wellington beat the Taiaroa about three hours on Saturday on the run to this port. This was a surprise to a good many who regard the Wakatipu as a slow boat. A reference to her log book shows that from Sydney to Wellington and thence to this port she averaged a speed of eleven knots right through. SHIPPING TELEGKAMS. Timaru, November 26.
