[beuteb’s telegrams.] Received November 27th, 0.45 a.m. LONDON, November 24. Consols remain at 102 J. The markets for colonial breadstuffs and tallow are unchanged. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 2,170,000 quarters, being an increase of 5000 during the week.
At to-day’s wool sale 10,000 bales were offered; medium and inferior wools were generally in request at reduced prices; good qualities are firm.
Received November 26th, 5.40 p.m. The Right Hon. H. C. E. Childers, Secretary of State for War, has gone to the Continent on a trip for the benefit of his health, which became seriously impaired through overwork. H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh is at present suffering from a severe attack of bronchitis.
The debate in the House of Commons on Mr Gladstone’s proposed new rules in reference to the business of the House has been rapidly proceeded with. At the recent sittings during the past week, seven more of the Premier’s resolutions have been passed, and all the rules affecting procedure have now been dealt with. Three final resolutions affecting Standing Committees alone remain to be discussed.

The remainder is open at par. 6 p.m. The official statement is that £573,500 was subscribed for the Adelaide Loan, the average price being £IOO 4s lOd. Received November 27, 0.45 a.m. November 25, 3.45 p.m. Forty thousand bales have been catalogued at the wool sales, and three thousand withdrawn. Pine wools maintain the September rates, but other descriptions are easier in price. Mr Gladstone has stated that it is probable that Parliament will be required to reassemble in January. The Cuzco’s frozen meat is selling at a reduction of from 10 to 15 per cent, on former prices. There is a great deal of it of an inferior character, and the soft, shapeless carcasses are only realising very low prices.
