The latest bulletin announces that Dr. Tait, Archbishop of Canterbury, is now rapidly sinking, and but little hope can be gptertained of his recovery. Received November 25th, 1.20 a.m. LON'DON, November 23. Arrived—Ship Selim from Lyttelton (August 15th.) The election for the vacancy in the representation of Preston in the House cf Commons look place to-day, and resulted in the return of Mr Tonilinson, who defeated Mr Lanbury. The seat for Wigan, which has been vacant owing to the suspension of the writs, is now about to be filled, a fresh writ having been issued. It is announced that Sir Win. Robinson> Governor of Western Australia, has been appointed Governor of South Australia, vice Sir Wm. Jervois. Further intelligence is to hand regarding the cession of the Bay of Tajurrah to the French traveller, M. Soleittet. According to the latest reports the Egyptian Government objects to the cession, claiming the right to the Bay and its surrounding country. CAIRO, November 23. It has transpired that as the trial of Arabi and other immediate leaders of the late rebellion is likely to be protracted, the Commission of Enquiry will at once determine which of the other prisoners shall be admitted to bail. ST. PETERSBURG, November 23. Serious di orderF have arisen among the students at the Colleges in this city and at Warsaw and Charkoff, and the institutions have consequently been closed by order of the Government. The Powers are now taking active measures to suppress the Anarchists, many of whom are flying to London for safety. The health 'of the Right Hon. IIChilders is impaired, and he has been ordered by his medical advisers to take a trip abroad. The Hon. Mr Gladstone has positively declined to amend the Arrears of Rent Bill.
