Lord Granville has firmly reiterated his refusal to allow an Ottoman Commission to Egypt. Received November 17th, 8.5 p.m. The P. and O. steamship Indus arrived at Plymouth to-day. The homeward mails via Sau Francisco, which left Auckland on October 10th, and the Australian mails via. Naples, per Orient steamship Cotopaxi, which left Melbourne on October 11th, were delivered hero to-day. Tenders are invited for a loan of .21,000,000, bearing interest at the rate of 4 per cent,, for the South Australian Government. Consols have again declined to 1021; Now Zealand securities are unchanged at the following quotations—Five per Cent. 10-40 Loan, 1051; Five per Cent. 1889 Loan, 104; Four-and-a-Half per Cent. 1879-1904 Loan, 1021. The total eserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is .£9,800,000, being an increase of .£IOO,OOO, compared with the reserve on last Thursday. The Bank rate of discount remains at 5 per cent., the market rate at 31. The market for colonial hreadstuffs is dull. Adelaide wheat, ex store, remains at 495. New Zealand ditto, at 43s to 465. Adelaide flour at 33s Gd. Astralian tallow —best beef, 42s ; best mutton, 43s 6d. Received November 18th, 1.15 a.m. LONDON, November 17. Since the passing of Mr Gladstone’s new procedure rules on Wednesday evening more rapid progress has been made in the House. During yesterday’s sitting the third, fourth, and fifth rules relating to debates on the" motion for adjournment, divisions, and irrelevance or repetitions were carried. Received November 18th, 1.15 a.m. CONSTANTINOPLE, November 16. In spite of the assurance given by the English Government the Porte has opened further parleying regarding the despatch of the Turkish Commission to Egypt, and has notified the British Charge do Affaires at Constantinople that it insists upon sending Commissioners. Received November 18th, 1.15 a.m. ALEXANDRIA, November 16. The Egyptian Commission for the prosecution of Arabi and other rebels lias conceded the point at issue regarding the legal procedure of the trial, and counsel for tho defence commenced the re-examination of Arabists to-day.
