A meeting of the stewards of these races took place on Saturday evening at McLean's Hotel. Amberley. Mr Courage was voted to the chair. The secretary stated that the subscription list was beiDg filled up satisfactorily. A suggestion was made to close iji the saddling paddock, but the matter was deferred until the next meeting. Messrs O'Connell, McNaught, and Bristow were appointed a ground- committee, and authorised to make any repairs to tho course that was deemed necessary. The secretary was instructed to write to the railway authorities as to arranging for a special train to leave Christchurch on the date of tho meeting, viz., December ICth. The working of a totalisator was granted to Messrs Hobbs and Goodwin, provided the necessary authority to work the instrument could be obtained. After some routine business having been transacted, the meeting adjourned till tne 25th inst, THE AUCKLAND SPEING MEETING. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.] AUCKLAND, November 13. . The stewards of the Auckland Eacing Club held an enquiry to-day as to the alleged pulling of Merlin in the late Consolation Eace at the Spring Meeting. Che stewards committee thought the evidence adduced scarcely strong enough, but severely censured Wheeler, the owner of the horse. WELLINGTON SPEING MEETING.
