LINWOOD TOWN DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS.

An adjourned meeting of this body was held last evening at half-past seven, in the Heathcote Eoad Board office, all the members being present. The Chairman stated that all the resolutions of the last meeting had been given effect to. The works committee reported that the result of its inspection of the district showed that eleven miles of streets, and consequently twenty-two miles of channelling, existed therein ; that of the latter, four miles and fifty-nine links were concreted. The report recommended that the Drainage Board should be requested to deal with certain ditches and drains; that arrangements should be made with the Heathcote Eoad Board to keep the co-boundary roads in repair; and also that the Avon Eoad Board should undertake the repairs and maintenance of Stanmore road bridge, as per agreement to be made. The report was adopted. The selection committee reported that two cottages on the East belt, near Lichfield street, would suit the Board for offices, and that arrangements had been made. The chairman pointed out that the committee had exceeded its duties, which were to report only, but, after considerable discussion, the report was adopted. The Board then went into committee to consider the applications for the clerkship to the Commission, which were thirty-six in number, and, after two hours' deliberation, the Board resumed and the chairman reported that Mr H. E. Smith had been elected After some routine business, the Board adjourned at a few minutes to midnight.
