Esqs., J.P.’s.] Drunkenness. —Michael Ryan, who was also charged with failing to support his children at Burnham, was remanded for twenty-four hours. Thomas Watson was fined 10s. Vagrancy. —’William Gallagher, a lame man, was charged with having no lawful means of support. Detectives Neil and O’Connor stated that the prisoner was well-known as the Manchester street loafer. He had done nothing for the last three years but loaf about drunken men and hotels. Ho would not work, and was a perfect nuisance about the locality abovenamed. He had already served several terms for vagrancy, drunkenness, &c. He was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment with hard labor.

Robbery from the Person. James Keafe, alias James O’Hearn, alias Cockney Jim, alias Yankee Ryan, was brought up on' warrant charged with having stolen from one Edward Mullan, on August 18th last, a watch and chain, valued at £9 17s 6d. Inspector Pender stated that the prisoner had some time ago been arrested on the same charge and held in custody for a considerable period having at last, for want of. evidence, to be discharged. The police had now got fresh evidence, and asked for a remand for eight days to allow time to bring the prosecutor from Reef ton. The prisoner was remanded accordingly till November 17th.
