LATE CABLE NEWS

[P«r Wairarapa at the Bluff.]

[_" Age " Specials.] SOUTHERN ALGERIA. THE EGYPTIAN CAMPAIGN. LONDON, October 26. The French Government are making preparations for a campaign in South Algeria, where a number of wandering tribes of Arabs still decline to submit themselves to the French rule. It is the intention of the French authorities to enforce the submission of the tribes in question, and to compel them to desist from the harrassing raids which they have been in the habit, from time to time, of making upon the French settlements. A meeting has been held in London to raise a fund for presentation to the private soldiers of the English army who were engaged in the late campaign in Egypt. The Lord Mayor presided, and a considerable sum was subscribed in the room.
