The Customs duties collected at Christohurch on Friday, October 27th, were as follows ? —Spirits, .£ll9 11s 6d ; tobacco, .£BO 10a ; wine. .£l3O 16s7d; beer, £l4 8s ; sugar, £43 12s 3d; tea, .£7O 0s 8d; ad valorem, £133 18s; other duties, £137 19s sd. Total, £735 16s sd. Messes H. Matson and Co. held a very successful sale of property on Saturday' last, in their large wool store, the land sale rooms being filled with a largo shipment of fnrriituro, ex Loch Cree, from London, ■which will be sold by auction on Monday, 39th instant. The first property offered was the leaseholds in the estate of A. Silbum and Co., being one acre of land at Wool, ston.i together with plant and machinery, and 62. acres at Amherley, with plant and machinery, both of which was for_ the manufacture of flax, however, not realising & satisfactory price, they were withdrawn. A farm at Methven, at the terminus of the Ashburton Forks railway, containing 925 a 3r 15p, together with the Methven •township, containing 15a 2r 32p, and subdivided into 69 building allotments, realised £6 per acre, making a total of £7532 7s id
