The “ Sydney Morning Herald ” reports tke death of the late master of the barque Siand City, Captain McDonald, who was well known and greatly esteemed as a visitor to this port. Captain McDonald was in charge of the barque Iris, and was washed overboard on September 25th, during a voyage to Adelaide from NewTlie Union Company’s s.s. Eotomaliana, which left Port Chalmers on Saturday for Melbourne, sustained a slight injury yesterday morning at the Bluff, and she has been ordered to Port Chalmers for examination. The Eotorua will take her place, leaving Port Chalmers this day, and the Wixtaki takes up Eotorua’s running to the Northern ports, leaving here to-morrow.
