A match was played between an eleven of the M.C.C. and the Woolston Club on Saturday, on the Hagley Park ground, and. resulted in a victory for the former by one innings and 43 runs. Bell, for the M.C.C.C., bowled excellently for both innings, takmjf thirteen wickets for 3-4 runs. For the M.C.C. W. Homer and W. F. Hargreaves made 19 each, Paul 16, Whiting 17, T. H. Hunt 15, and T. Horner 15, not out. ForWoolston, Buxton scored 18 in the first, innings and Sedgewick 15. None of the Woolston players reached double figures in their second innings.
OXFORD C.C. v KAIAPOI CLOTHING COMPANY C.C.
The match played on Saturday last between the Oxford C.C. and the Kaiapoi Clothing Company C.C. resulted in a victory for the former by 16 runs. Harvey with 40 and Butler with 17 for the winners, and Grater with 13 for thelosers, were the highest scorers. The howling of Marr and Empson for the--0.C.C., and Read, Barrow and TatersaUL for the K.C.C.C.C., was very effective. The scores were: —Oxford Cricket Club, 79; Kaiapoi C.C.C.C., 63.
MERIVALE v UPPER EICCAETOR.
A match was played on Saturday at Upper Eiccarton between the Upper Bic—carton C.C. and the Merivale C.C., resulting in a victory for Merivale by 26 runs on. the first innings. The scores were—Upper Eiccarton 19, and Merivale 46. Haynes. 13, was the only batsman who stood against the fine bowling of F. Lane and A. Billena. E. Tucker, 12 ; A. Billens, 11 1 and F. Lane, 8, not out, were the highest scorers for Merivale. Whithear bowled well for the Upper Eiccarton.
RANGIORA v WOODEND. A match between the above clnbs took place on the grounds of the former on Saturday, notwithstanding that it was raining all the afternoon. Woodend made 57 runs, of which Winsloe made I#, Judson 13, and George 10. Raugiora made 67 for six wickets. Stewart, with 37, not out, and W. Good, with 16, were the only ones to make double figures. For Woodend Judson and Smith bowled well, as did. also Good and Stewart for Eangiora.
