Drummer is recovering from the iejury to his foot. “ Augur” in the “ Australasian” states that it is probable there will be thirtythree starters for the Cap, and leaves out Baronet and Hi* Royal Highness from those now in. The “Leader” expects twenty-six starters, and gives the following as doubtful:— Baronet, Hie Eoyal Highness, Belmont, Essex, Gudarz, Jessie, Lord Lisgar, The Queen, Segenhoe. Received October 27th, 0.55 a.m. Betting on Oup.—Ounnamulla, 10 to 1; Mistaken, 10 to 1; Little Jack, 100 to 12; Drummer, Prometheus, and Bavanaka, 20 to 1.
Betting on the Derby—Navigator, 6 to 4 ; Segenhoe, 4 to 1; Guesswork, 10 to 1 s Buolka, 12 to 1 j Pryingpan, Calms, and Prometheus, 20 to 1. Report is current in sporting circles this evening that Prometheus is queer.
[SPECIAL TO TRUSS ASSOCIATION.] Received October 26th. 10.15 p.m. MELBOURNE, October 26. The weather still keeps fine, and all the horses engaged in the Derby and Oup are training assiduously. Fryingpan had a gallop over the Derby distance ftnlle and a half) to day, and finished well in 2min 48 J seos. The price about Fryingpan is now 100 to 8. Segenhoe and Heola had a strong gallop for a mile, the colt having the best of it. For the last five furlongs the time was Imin. Bi?eca. Darebin was sent onoo round, and finished strong. Jessie and Lord Burghley also went once over the course, the filly having all the best of the finish. King of the Vale did useful work, and is now fancied a little for the Oup, his price being 100 to 6 (token.) Sting and Pollio want the Oup distance this afternoon, the former finishin grand style. AUCKLAND RACES.
