It, will be remembered that the Midland wire 16 rune ahead in their .first innings, fend 1 in their second innings on the. previous Saturday hid put together 52 with the loss of four wiekbtr The remainder of the side only succeeded in making 29, a remit no doubt principally due to, the,, very unsound state of. the wicket. With only 98 to win the United went to the wickets, and it was thought that they could manage to pull off the game pretty easily. LANCASTER PARK ELEVEN T EIGHTEEN.

As there was no regular match on at the Park, a game between the Eleven and an Eighteen, including Pocook and Frith, was got up, and some good cricket was exhibited, though the fielding, as a whole, was weak, and in the case of the Eleven at one time something terrible to behold. The Eleven put together 139 runs, of which W. P. Reeves msde 41, Wilding 19, Hon. E. O. J. Stevens 25, Roach 11, Dunlop 18* and H, H. Longhnan 13 not out. Frith was bowling excellently for the Eighteen. The Eighteen, when time was called, bad made 68 with the lots of thirteen wickets. 1J.0.0.0. SECOND ELEVEN v ADDINGTON. The Addington Club divided it* forces on Saturday, one eleven playing the D. 0.0. Second Eleven, and another the College, Most of the talent, however, was to be found in the team that faced the TJ.C.0.0, men. The latter for their first innings scored 79, of which B. Harman made 18 and Bsswiok 24. For Addington, Wheatleigh had it very much his own way, slogging the adversary all over the field with the greatest impartiality, and keeping his wicket up till the oallof time. He made 80 (not out), while Ogicr scored 14 and Jones 17. The total score was 137 for six wickets down, CHRIST'S COLLEGE r ADDINGTON. The other section of the Addington Club did not fare so well against the College. Tbo latter made 104 for their first innings, of which number H. R. Mathias made 11; Hall, 20 ; H. Lee, 19 ; Oox, 19 ; and Hargreaves, 17. Addington only succeeded in putting together 71, of which 17 were credited to W. Ashby, 12 to A. Ashby, and 14 to Brunt. For Addington, Lawrence took five wickets, and for the College, H. B. Mathias seven wickets. MIDLAND SECOND ELEVEN T WOOL3TON. Woolston in this match was clearly overmatched, only making 36 runs, and being unable to stand before the howling of Bell and Brunt. The Midland scored 124; H. Horner and Hargreaves making 19 each; Paul, 16; Whiting, 17 ; J. Horner, 15, not out; and Hunt, 15. BOYAL C O. T RICHMOND 0.0. The return match was played on Saturday between the Royal 0.0. end the Richmond 0.0., and ended in an easy victory for the Royal. G. Jorman and Fisher played well, SECOND MB3IVALB v GLOUCESTER 0.0, A match ’was played on Saturday between the above clubs, which ended in a win for the former by two wickets. Johnstoce, Wilkinson, Barry and Smith played well for the winners, while Oharleaworth, Griffiths and Cook did the same for the losers. Scores —Merivole, 26 and 80; Gloucester, 27 and 77. RANGIORA v THE MAORIS. A match was played between the above clubs on Saturday afternoon, on the Bangiora ground, and resulted in an easy victory for the local team. The scores were—Bangiora, 112 j Maoris, 3S-. For Bangiora the principal scorers were—W, Bourka 32, Biard 25, O. D’Auvergne 17, E. R Good 14. For the Maoris, J. Mark 8, Happy 6. Good and D’Auvergne bowled well for the local team, as did also Judaon and Flute for the visitors. UNITED RAILWAY 0.0. V ST. ALBANS 0.0. A two days’ match was commenced on Saturday last between the above-named clubs on the gronnd of the latter. At the close of the day’s play St. Albans had only put together 26 runs, Bonud and McGregor flooring their wickets with considerable ease. The United Bail way men then went to the wickets, and scored 76 fc#r nine wickets. Round with 25 and McGregor with 27 (not out) were the principal scorers. The match will bo continued next Saturday. STANDARD 0.0. T LANOASTEB PARK THIRD ELEVEN. A match was played on Saturday between these clubs, resulting in a win for the Standard by nine wickets. Soares: — Standard 0.0. 59 and 12, for lose of one wicket. L. P. Third, 52 and 17. The chief scorers were Halley 16, Garty 13, and G. Rowe 11, for the winning team, and McDouall 28, and Francis 9, in the second innings for L. P. Third. Q. Bowo and Halley bowled well for the Standard, aa also did MoDowall and Brown for the L. F. Third eleven.
