The open boat Madge was struck by a squall in the afternoon in the harbor, and went down instantly. A schooner near rescued William Matthews, boatbuilder, and John Scott, plumber. William Cook, shoemaker, was drowned j he was unable to awim and the others could. Matthews had a narrow escape as the sheet fastened round his leg, but the rope was long enough for him to get his head above the water. NELSON, October 22.
