Tho Railway Construction Bill was finally passed by the Legislative Assembly last night. Rumors which have been current that a meeting of members of the Constitutional Party have been hold, with a view to a change of leadership, are denied, but the “Age” reiterates its statement regarding the meeting. Telegrams from the country districts report that rain is urgently necessary. It is now raining in Melbourne. Bridget Ryan, wife of Patrick Ryan (wbo is in custody for horse-stealing in New Zealand), has been for aiding to defraud her husband’s creditors. Deposit receipts for £I2OO, and securities to tho value of £9OO have been found in her possession. SYDNEY, October 20. The strike of men engaged at the Nepean Waterworks, for a reduction or hours, has commenced. A strike for an increase of wages has also occurred among the workmen on the Uralla railway contract.
