CURE BOATING CLUB.

A pleasant reunion in connection with lii-s club was held at the Kaiopoi Hotel on Taesday evening, ■when a number of the memhois and their friends were entertained at dinner. The collation wm unread in a manner which did credit to the landlord of the hotel. Mr Q-. H. Wearing, president of the club, occupied the ohair j Mr J. Perrin, sen., vicepresident, the vice chair. The toist list included—“ The Qaeoa and Royal Family; ” “ Tho Army, Navy, and Volunteers,” responded to by the vico chairman, a Crimean man ; “ The Borough Council,” represented by Mr E. H. Mathews, one of tho founders of the Cure dub, and the builder of its first four-oared gig tho Tui ; “ Friendly Societies,” coupled with tho names of Messrs Bate, Hempleman, and Hudson ; “ The Fire Brigade,” and, Mr A. Winterbourne ; “ The Cure Boating Club,” proposed by Mr J, liowtbisn Wilson, who gave an historical sketch of the progress of boating in the town since 1865, and tho rise and progress of this club, tho object of whose members was to maintain for themselves a name and a reputation for Kaiopoi, which might be said to have been fairly achieved by the possession of valuable property unencumbered, and the fact that in’the past eleven years tho principal crow had won thirty-four four oar races with the “Cam.” Mr J. Winterbourne (captain) replied, and said that so long as a feeling of unonimity reigned among his crow on tho determination to always win if possible and row straight out, he had no fear for its prosperity. He complimented his fellow rowers in tho Cam, and the present junior orew. Tho toasts of the crews senior and junior were responded to by Messrs J. Perrin, jun., G. Wright, B, Day, and C. Wright. The toast of the Canterbury Union and Lyttelton Bowing Clubs was received with much enthnsissm. The toast of the yachting men was replied to by Mr W. Hills. The health of the Vicepresident, who has stood by the dab for several years, received an ovation and rounds of cheering. Mr Wearing, in response, stated that his connection with the olnb was a very happy one, and ho was pleased to Had himself now surrounded with h body of young men whom ho hoped to see give a good account of themselves this' season. The toast of " The Bras* Band and their Leader, Mr Blakeley,” was warmly graded, and “ The Press,” “ The “Ladies,” and “The Host” were duly proposed. A number of very good songs were sung, and the proceedings came to an early termination.
