Bt Electric Telegraph—Copyright. [reutbr’s telegrams.] Received October 18th, 9.65 p.m. MELBOURNE, October 18. Messrs Qoldsbrough and Co., Limited, held their opening wool sale for the present season to-day. There was a crowded attendance of English, Scotch, Continental and African buyers, in addition to those from the various Australian colonies. The bidding was active and the competition very brisk, the prices realised being very satisfactory. The catalogue comprised 1150 bales. Malting barley is in fair demand at 5s 2d to 5s 4d for grain of good quality. Wheat has advanced Id during the week, and is now worth 6s 8d to 6a lOd. The market for New Zealand feed oata is unchanged, at 4s 4d to 4s 6d. Milling sorts quoted at 4s 6d to 4s Bd, an advance of Id upon last week’s price. Bayers are holding off, and to effect sales lower prices must he accepted.
