The clip generally in Victoria and New South Wales is reported to be smaller than last year. Active competition is expected in the case of sound well grown wools. It is anticipated that the total exports for the year will show a decrease of 500,000 bales. Queensland will on the contrary show a considerable increase compared with last year. The clip generally is of an excellent quality. The following is the latest betting for the Melbourne Cup;—Bassanio and Boolka, each 100 to 8; Sweet William, 100 to 12.

Sugar Company’s No. 1 pieces, per ton, £35. The strike among the Newcastle colliers has terminated, the masters having at length consented to yield the 3d per hoar demanded by the men.
