Roceived October 7th, 8 p.m. MELBOURNE, October 7.
At the Victoria Amateur Turf Club’s meeting at Caulfield to-day, the Caulfield Guineas was won by Mr W. Pearson’s Piyingpsn ; Mr H, Burrell’s Boolka, 2 ; Sir T, Elder’s Guesswork, 3. Twelve horses started, and the race was won easily.
SYDNEY, October 7.
In the concluding heats for the Punch rowing prizes to-day the results were as follows: —Rush, 1; Beach, 2; Laycock, 3; Trickott, 4. Received October 9th, 0 30 a.m. SYDNEY, October 7.
At the conclusion of the final race for the Punch rowing trophies to-day Rush led by a length and a half; Beach, 2; beating Laycock, 3, by a couple of lengths; Trickett, 4, was last for nearly the whole of the way. The race took place under favorable circumstances, the river being smooth. It is estimated that fully 20,000 persons witnessed the contest.
