We we sorry to notice from tbs “ Hawke'* Bay Courier ” that Messrs Hoadley and Lyon of Napier have been instructed by Mr Allan McLean to dispose of the whole of his racing stud, with the exception of a few he intends keeping for breeding purpose*, and these are to be leased for their racing career. The sporting world will regret to hoar of the disposal of this grand stud, but Mr MoLs&n, finding that moro of his time must bo given to hi* Gisborne property, has determined to retire from the turf for a time. The stewards of the Poland RadngClub met recently to consider how to avoid the holding of three race meetings on New Year’s Day. A letter was read from the secretary of the Waipawa Racing Club, in which reasons were given for not changing the date of the Kaikora Meeting. No reply, it was stated, had been received from the Woodthorpo Club. It wss therefore decided to alter the date of the Petaae Meeting to the 9:h November. Mr Webb’s mare Lady Florence has dropped a b o to Totara, Flat Iron a filly foal to Oamvol&unus, Mr Clifford’# mare Puriki a b c to Anteroa. Jibe two last named, with old Aurifera, also the property of Mr Clifford, visit Apremout this season.
The Australian jockey George William* rode in the colors of Mcssr* Mason and Val lance at Timarn, being under an engagement for the season.
