Sailed, this afternoon The Pacific mail steamship Zealandia, for San Francisco, via Auckland.
Received October 6th, 1.15 a.m.
The Provincial Bishops have selected the names of the Right Rev. Edward Parry, Bishop Suffragan of Dover, and the Rev. Richard Appleton, Fellow of Trinity College Cambridge, for recommendation to the Bishops of Australia and Tasmania for the vacant Bishopric of Sydney and the Primacy of Australia. Canon Plemin, of York, whose name was selected by the Diocesan Synod, is no longer a candidate for the office. The contest for the Punch rowing trophies was continued to-day. The results of the various heats leave Trickott, Rush, Laycook and Beach in for the final races, which come off on Saturday next.
BRISBANE, October 5.
In the Legislative Assembly to-day, the division was taken upon the Warrego Railway Bill, and resulted in a majority of two for the Government.
