Thia event was announced to commence at half-past two o’clock at the Drillshed, which was arranged as a running course twentyone laps to the mile. The entries were as follows: — J, M. O’Connor Scratch J. Scott ~ J. Byan 20mins J. Cuaack ... ... ... 25 ~ 6. Narey 30 ~ G. Whiting 45 „ G. Goad win 45 ~ C. Scrimshaw i honr W. Pentecost 1 „ S. Hewitt 1 „ C Lawrence 1 ~ Of those Messrs Lawrence, Pentecost, Scrimshaw, Goodwin, Whiting, Byan, and Scott were absent, and 8. Hewitt did not put in an appearance till within a few minutes of three o’clock, and he consequently loses about half an hour, for which he gets no allowance. At three o’clock Messrs Narey and Ball came on the track, followed at an Interval of five minutes by J. Ousaok, O’Connor coming on at scratch at half-past three o’clock. The contest will terminate at half-past ten to-night.
